The Vocaltutor Christmas Show Written by Mr Trevor Tuncliffe,
This was a show produced and presented by Georgina Hill-Brown at Westgate Common Club on Thursday night, (December 16th.
Appearing on the show were, Emily Atkinson, Carla Tagg, Helena Starz, Aimee Barratt, Danielle Atkinson, Shannon Mares, Phoenix, Chloe Gadd, Jess Pinder, Ellie Hill-Brown, Naomi, Mary Thompson, Rachel Skelton. The only boy on the show was Joel Wright. There was a lady called Jay who I think should be already working as a professional singer. In fact Jay did sing up to a couple of years ago and I hope is considering a come back. I could pick out plenty of good voices; there were certainly no bad ones. I did like Helena Starz version of ‘Oh Holy Night’ which was very moving. Helena, Rachel and Jess are the trio ‘Finesse’ who appeared in a show for the Polio Fellowship at Crigglestone recently. I would like to give Georgina Hill-Brown and her husband William a hearty pat on the back and a great big thenk you from their students for the hard work they put in.
A good night of entertainment but where were the members? They missed a fine show from these young singers.

As some of you may know (as I talk about it too much!) my daughters Emily (12) and Danielle (10) are part of a duo group, Disctracted. They do regular charity events, shows and competitions all over the country which keeps me busy!!
They reached the area final of the Open Mic UK national competition (u18s category) after beating off some very strong competition in earlier rounds, but unfortunately didn’t make it through to the Grand Final being held at the O2 Arena in January. They do still have a chance to get through and perform at the O2 in the final however this will be subject to public vote. If the girls get the most votes against the remaining area finalists they will go through. They got great comments from the judges and this would be a fantastic opportunity for them.
Please could I ask for your help by voting for the girls. This can be done by texting Wildcard303 to 84222. If you want to see the girls in action you can hear some of their covers and original songs on their Website (www.disctracted.com) and also keep track of their progress and events on their Disctracted facebook page.
Here’s the bad news – each text vote costs a £1, but if you feel you would like to support them it would be very much appreciated. The votes will be collected over the next 2 weeks, so if you know of anyone else who you think would vote, please feel free to cascade to your friends and family.
Thanks,
Val
